I always feel a little guilty. ;-) For me it's similar to watching an emotionally stressful movie...sometimes I watch the end of those first, too, just so I can deal with the stress during the movie. I'm a wimp.carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00483414028348315498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1177425200404128301.post-66473725496059311752009-01-31T18:21:00.000-05:002009-01-31T18:21:00.000-05:00Susanne-I think you've mentioned those books books...Susanne-I think you've mentioned those books books before. They're set in turn-of-the-century New York and involve a policeman and a midwife. There are about ten books so far, and the romantic tension between them develop more and more with each book. They haven't gotten together yet, but Man! They're good books and very well-written. No graphic sex but some murders with sexual content, rather like CSI. Start at tnhe beginning, which I think is Murder in Astor Place. They're called the Gaslight Series. They're very much like Anne Perry's Thomas and Charlotte Pitt series, except perhaps written even better and with more complex plots.Susanne Barretthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12773089562677921118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1177425200404128301.post-48823647933695858652009-01-30T17:07:00.000-05:002009-01-30T17:07:00.000-05:00I'll piggyback on your confession, since I do it, ...I'll piggyback on your confession, since I do it, too, and for the very same reason. I can't take 3 or 4 hours to read nonstop through a novel the way I used to, but I also don't have the patience to wait days to find out how a story ends. Reading the end works for me!Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01912895160167749335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1177425200404128301.post-43718955210642186592009-01-29T14:05:00.000-05:002009-01-29T14:05:00.000-05:00Yep, I think that was Flashpoint. In my "light" reading I almost always read the ending before I finish the book. It doesn't spoil the pleasure for me, but, like you, it helps me put it down when I need to...like to sleep.carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00483414028348315498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1177425200404128301.post-25355000962293200482009-01-29T13:31:00.000-05:002009-01-29T13:31:00.000-05:00Hey, I think I just read one of those--Flashpoint,...Hey, I think I just read one of those--Flashpoint, with a hunky ex-SEAL and former CIA agent in South America? Actually I read every word until it got to be about 11 p.m. & then I skimmed several chapters so I could get to the end before I turned into a pumpkin. It's a fault of mine--I can't put a good story down until I know how it ends.Rachelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01912895160167749335noreply@blogger.com
